Firefox crashes

My Firefox crashes on a page from my personal website: http://www.doviddebresser.info/Collection.php?letter=g

These pages show a large amount of small images. The strange thing is that only the letter "g" crashes, and "g" is by far not the page with the largest amount of images (that would be "s").

Another strange thing is that Firefox crashes right away when I try to open the page, not after beginning to open the page, as usually happens when there are too many images on the page, that the crash occurs after Firefox already shows a few hundred images.

I have the latest Firefox version: 46.0.1. Windows 7 with more or less the latest updates. The problem also occurs in safe mode. The problem does not occur using Internet Explorer. I have a few add-ons, like dictionaries, but nothing special. Java is also updated. I also have the Adblock plus extension, but it is de-activated on my userpage.

Dear Fred

First of all, thank you for trying to solve this issue, which is preventing one of my website pages to display.

As you have guessed by now, the site is a collection of icons from websites. Naturally, some sites are not active any more.

As far as I understand, the existence in the page of a link to a non-existing website, is not a reason for Firefox to crash. Would you agree?

Sincerely, Dovid.

I would agree. That is why I called for help.

Because no one has responded, I filed a bug report;

Bug 1277741 - Bad Icons Cause Firefox To Crash | Win IE not affected https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1277741 Please do not comment in bug reports.

Possibly related bug that was only partially fixed before...

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1237171 - note: We really need a general solution to the ICO-size-doesn't-match-BMP-size problem; it's come up in several bugs now. But I don't know what that solution is, so in the meantime I'm doing a simple work-around that fixes the regression introduced by bug 1204394.

So this seems to be a known issue, but having a new bug might help.
