Since the upgrade to FF44, I've lost the option 'Ask every time' in the 'Keep until:' section for cookies. The only 2 options available are 'they expire' and 'I close Firefox'. This makes the exceptions list (after 'Accept cookies from sites') pointless, as every time you encounter a new site, FF automatically allows cookies to be set, whereas before, with 'ask every time' it prompted a choice to be made. Therefore I can only control cookie behavior for sites I have used prior to this upgrade that have exceptions already set, other than by manually setting a choice in the exceptions list.

I appreciate these options are only available if you use custom settings for history.

hi rob99, you are right - the ask me anytime option for cookies was removed in firefox 44, which was supposed to happen for a long time (bug 606655).

i would recommend the following setup instead: in the custom history options choose "keep until i close firefox" as a default option & set exceptions for the few sites where you want stay logged-in across sessions. this way you'll have less work to do over all and a privacy-minded setup after all.

or as an alternative you could also take a look at an extension like https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/self-destructing-cookies/

Righto, that's a good compromise you suggest, although the whole thing was much more elegant with 'ask every time' as an option!

Or you could uncheck 'accept cookies from sites' and then set the sites you want to stay logged in permanently as 'allow' and those you wish to log in for sessions as 'allow for session' in the exceptions list.

Mozilla - have you gone out of your mind?

How can you get rid of "ask me every time" to block cookies? This is an essential feature. This is the number 1 reason why I adopted FF and stuck with it for -- what? -- ten years.

And you didn't even tell us.

Who are you now? I thought privacy and concern for the user rather than the abuser was core to your mission. This is why I have responded to your campaigns and contributed three years now.

Don't write here about workarounds - you have nothing that works like "ask me every time".

So now I am flooded by cookies - no way to control anything FAST WITHOUT DIGGING at the level needed.

You are now the same as Google Chrome.

How can you do this?
