I'm a webmaster for a google website. The slide shows don't work since Firefox last updated Nov 4.

The slide shows (from Picasa) work when I'm logged in to the website, but otherwise no. I see a blank screen. The first caption will come up - no picture, and it quits working. They stopped working the beginning of Nov. Firefox 42 is the version. Windows 7.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Are you running Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; never remember history)?

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"

Thank you for your suggestion cor-rel. Unfortunately, nothing changed with the slide shows. These sound like things that might have helped my computer, but would not help other viewers of the website. Other people can view the slide shows in Chrome and IE. I can also view them in IE. I can't see them anymore in Firefox or on my iPad. Firefox is the browser I normally use.

Can you replicate this problem?

Is there a specific plugin required to see this content?

It should normally work with the default settings in Firefox unless there is a problem with specific content.

Firefox 42+ has a new Tracking Protection feature that is enabled by default in Private Browsing mode. You can see a shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar when you are in private browsing mode that some content is blocked. You can disable this feature in "Options/Preferences > Privacy".

  • Options/Preferences > Privacy: "Use Tracking Protection in Private Windows"

I have the same problem with a Photo Bucket slide show on my forum. I can view it with IE, but not FF. It just stopped working one night about a week ago. I have disabled all addons, but still no joy. So I reinstalled FF (43.0.3) my current version, and it worked, but when I went to view it again it stopped working. Everyone else can view it not using FF.

I have tried everything from the help section I can, but nothing works. Some suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
