Once upon a time, selecting this option would cause all of my previous tabs to be reloaded once I started Firefox. I was happy.

Later, this stopped working. Whenever I would start Firefox, the previous tabs would be displayed, but they would not refresh. Being the type that regularly will leave ten to twenty tabs open all the time, manually refreshing each came to annoy me. Fortunately, changing the value of "browser.cache.check_doc_frequency" fixed this. For a time.

Again, my problem returned. Frustrated to open my browser and be shown news from two days ago rather than today, I again went looking for a solution. To my dismay, I only managed to find one way out of my problem, and it seemed to be rather drastic. I disabled the disk cache entirely, and for a time, things were good.

But recently things have reverted once more. When my "windows and tabs from last time" are shown, they are always old and require a manual refresh. Perhaps this is desired behavior for some, but for me it is just extra work. The best solution that I have come up with this time is to bookmark all open tabs every time I want to close firefox and then to open that bookmark folder each time that I close it. This seem unnecessary, but I have reached the limit of what I can solve.

I would appreciate if anyone can suggest a configuration setting or an extension that can provide the behavior that I am looking for. Thank you.

While waiting for a reply, here are some ideas.

  • 1 Create bookmarks

Right click on one of the tabs, and select Bookmark All Tabs. Place these tabs in their own bookmark folder. After you start Firefox, open the bookmark manager, right click on that folder, and select Open All.

  • 2 Check your settings;

Press the <Alt> or <F10> key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then General.

There are two settings;

  • When Firefox Starts

When the browser is started, what page do you want to display. Many of us choose Show My Home Page.

  • Home Page

When a new page is opened, what do you want displayed.

  1. Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
  2. Use Bookmark
  3. Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla page with tools.

You can use any of these that you wish;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any web page or about: page you want.

Hi, You can fix this by unchecking the "Don't load tabs until selected" option. It's located in the tabs section of the option window. More info here - Tab preferences and settings Thanks, Michael
