BSOD occurs randomly and only occurs when FF is opened. Sometimes immediately and sometimes after FF is open and running for upto 10 minutes. No new hardware, firmware or software upgrades. First occured about end of September. Zero computer use for a four day period though system was left on for antivirus scans and automatic program updates. Upgrade to latest version of FF had no effect.

Does that BSOD give any clues (i.e. a specific DLL) about the cause of that crash to link it to a specific driver or service?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Eureka!! It seems as though your suspicion may prove to be correct. I have always used McAfee Total Protection AntiVirus and recently accidently clicked on Microsoft Security Essentials when updating Windows. While I do not understand why, this only seems to have caused the BSOD when opening or using Firefox and is beyond me. That said, I have uninstalled MS Security Essentials and so far have not had any reoccurrence of the problem for several hours now. I will give it a couple of days to see if the problem has truly been corrected and will advise. Thank you so much for your assistance. Thank you too to Cor-el for your response.

Well it has now been a full five days since the problem occurred. Not sure why it only affected Fire Fox but the problem was in deed conflicting anti virus programs. In my case McAfee Total Protection and Microsoft Security Essentials. Thank you so much for the assist. No more BSOD issues.
