When I drag a tab out of its window and create a new one with it, the page automatically reloads. How do I get this to stop?

That question pretty much sums it up. It never used to happen but lately it automatically happens and there are no options in settings to change this. When I drag a tab from a multi-tab window out to create its own window, the page in the tab automatically reloads. I don't want it to this anymore, for any number of reasons. For example, I could be watching a video and decide to move the video into its own window. But if the page reloads, then I have to start the video from the beginning. Same if I'm reading a discussion containing comments-- the page refreshes and I lose my place.

Did this setting in about:config get changed recently?

  • browser.cache.check_doc_frequency

These are the possible settings:

  • 0: Check once per browser session
  • 1: Check every time I view the page
  • 2: Never check (always use cached page)
  • 3 (default): Check when the page is out of date (automatically determined)
