Applying for student financial aid, but the FAFSA system hasn't caught up to Mozilla Firefox 5.0. Can I go back to 3.5 or 3.6 temporarily?

I'm trying to apply for financial aid to continue my online studies. At a certain point in the FAFSA application process I come to a page that tells me something like Web Browser problems detected. I contacted the IT department at the online university and was advised to use Firefox 3.6 instead of my current 5.0. Can I make this happen? If so, how?

Install Firefox Portable 3.6.18 to your hard drive.

The Portable version installs in a self-contained set of folders and won't affect any other version of Firefox you have installed.
