Firefox 'New Tab +' button not present in FF 4 - with or without an add-on installed.

Not in customise menu. I use this button a lot.

FF 4 looks bad anyway, prefer all buttons on left side. - have reverted back to FF 3.6

The "+" button should appear when you have more than one tab, but the tab bar usually is hidden completely when you only have one tab in a window. You can move that button to the main navigation toolbar so it's always available. (Drag the + from the end of the tab bar to where you want it.)

To customize the position of buttons on a toolbar use View > Toolbars > Customize (or right-clicking a blank area of a toolbar and choosing Customize). It's mostly drag and drop from one bar to another, within the same bar, or from the button palette to a toolbar (or vice versa).

If you reinstall Firefox 4, give it a try.

Thanks for your reply. However, I don't mean the new tab button to the right of each tab. I mean the new tab button that I can place beside 'home, reload, stop...etc'. It is not in the customise menu. Have tried many times. Piece of cake to find it in older versions of FF.

Brick wall.

It was consolidated with the "+" button on the tab bar. If you drag it to a different toolbar, it morphs into the old button. Here's a sequence of screen shots showing what I mean.

Thanks again - so fast !

I'm afraid I don't have a + sign like you do.

Have a look at the pic attached.

It used to be in the customise menu - plain as day !

You see that new tab button as a plus on the tab bar.

You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button that shows as a plus sign (+) from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar button like the New Tab button that you have in Firefox 3 versions.

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"

Great. Thanks a lot.
