LibreOffice error: LibreOffice requires a 64-bit Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. Please install a JRE and restart LibreOffice. https://hub.libreoffice.org/InstallJava/?LOlocale=en-US

I found nothing in FF extensions add-ons to facilitate this program/app. FF won't work with JAVA files but they provided no alternative. LibreOffice is the only free Office-like program/app. that is currently up and working today that I can find on any list I've pulled via browser on the first page or two.

It is so confusing to go to Edge or Chrome to use it - and hard to move things from FF over to Edge to get to LibreOffice - can't follow what I'm doing that way. I want to use FF. I feel safer there.

I don't trust downloading from random sites. Bait and switch for files. Malware. If there are is a trust-worthing d/l workaround pls tell me. I;m not up on them - not in the loop.

I need assistive technology really - this is just a start for me to get organized. You can give me advise on what keeps you swift and organized if you can too. Appreciate that much too. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your attention. I'm not well so sorry I'm not with it but I do understand it. How do I get help from the addon-developer? I'm not connected to the new feedback system. I couldn't get connected. I prob don't have an acct in the network they use to get an acct if I recall... Libre doesn't have tech support...and I checked their Help to no avail. JRE in search = nothing. Can't find a support via internet search. D/L JAVA from their site. They auto detected FF and gave me a spiel. I printed it out on my prior FF question just finished...didn't see the reply till today - was looking in my inbox...whew. LibreOffice states it doesn't work with FF and nothing more. I got a reply saying LibreOffice is stand alone and FF won't effect it's operation. However, I replied I wonder if I D/L JAVA SE does it have the JRE file to make ofclibre work? but just standalone? And can I transfer data between FF operations like docs or help or internet pages or emails? Transfer manually copy/paste or auto transfer via the programs/apps function keys. I did try to search online for an answer but didn't find one. They referenced other free office format programs but they are no longer in operation something with exec... or 123.. I think was the main one... out of operation tho. I don't think any answer is linked to the search...like if there's a social media group answer... I'm exhausted..and not phys. able to do what it takes because of a pain disorder messes with my brain functions ..interrupts.. and I've been out of it a long time .. I apologize.. I need help finding where/what to do... anything you can do to step me thru I'd so appreciate.

Thanks for your kind attention. I'm not well so sorry I'm not with it but I do understand it. How do I get help from the addon-developer? I'm not connected to the new FF feedback system. Can't find a support group via internet search or a current answer that doesn't involve programming myself...or a currently working alternative free ofc type program. I went to JAVA.com. AFAIK FireFox has some kinda crash reporter that reports back but to feedback system I don't think they have one besides Bugzilla reporting to firefox.

Just go to Help > Submit Feedback.

Firefox is the name of the web browsers (third name for desktop version actually) as the company is Mozilla.

Bugzilla is a general purpose tracker that Mozilla uses for a variety of things.

The crash reporter is not for feedback but for tracking crashes, particularly the problem or unique crashes. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter

yeah James I noticed and noted that in my own 2nd reply after I stumbled onto the link "my questions." I can never find it. To me it's not logically placed. It should be grouped with INBOX area and better yet on the title bar after Volunteer. oh well. LibreOffice readme says you have to download JRE FILE separately. I'm not sure where it comes from. Is it auto downloaded within the total JAVA 64 online download? And can I transfer stuff between emails, documents, and webpages online or offline via automatic options since they don't mesh with FF? That's the gist of it. Here's what I've been doing:

I just pulled up the LibreOffice error again and there was a link i don't remember seeing it there before = https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/General/InstallJava --> THIS is what I think applies... but still not sure about it. ...it's a start. My body is all systems shut down with this disease it's impossible 99% of the time. - it said you need the same OS architecture as the version of (OfcLibre). 64 or 32. I downloaded the latest LibreOffice a few weeks ago it says it is: LIBREOFFICE VERSION: 7.3.0.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 0f246aa12d0eee4a0f7adcefbf7c878fc2238db3 CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 6.1 Service Pack 1 Build 7601; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win [what is win6?] Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US Calc: CL

My registry has files with 32/64/86 in there (no touchy I know) makes me think dad>bro got an upgraded OS sold as a clean install...

(only in there to look for straggler files from uninstalls - don't touch I know - I look to see if i should run a clean up program specific to that uninstalled program/app.

anyhow SYSTEM page for this pc....yep says 64-bit OS. So it's correct version - I MATCHED.

The same links' part about downloading the JRE ... WHERE is the download for that? Within the total download of JAVA SE...?

Continued to look for the JAVA file they said should be on my PC - wasn't there - guess gotta d/l JAVA SE to see it but I DID find the READ ME file for LibreOffice in the START UP MENU SEARCH and it said in part: System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, 8, 8.1 Update (S14) or 10 ... ... ... ...

Registration of LibreOffice as default application for Microsoft Office formats can be forced or suppressed by using the following command line switches with the installer:

  • REGISTER_ALL_MSO_TYPES=1 will force registration of LibreOffice as default application for Microsoft Office formats.
  • REGISTER_NO_MSO_TYPES=1 will suppress registration of LibreOffice as default application for Microsoft Office formats.

I DO have a trial version of MS OFFICE never used on this PC just keeping for emergencies. But I don't know how to switch commands with the installer? Via on of it's downloaded files opened in NOTEBOOK? (I CAN read the README file for LibreOffice there so why not this JAVA file - i don't know - copy/paste deal? Via about:config? I don't know how to INTERRUPT a download and change it's file commands. Anyway it's already downloaded. i COULD uninstall and re-download it very easily i guess. i guess just manually chg'g the default in CONTOL PANEL wouldn't fix the programming?

Basically there are 3. help/readme documents that you guys may appreciate and easily tell you what to tell me to do as I am so unsure of myself: They are short and well outlines. If you could have a quick look and advise I'd appreciate it dearly.

Note: nothing for Win7 specifically for my current OS version - next project due soon. Note: My LIBREOFFICE VERSION: 7.3.0.3 (x64) Note: there are 3 sticking points on this doc.:

1a) JRE – Download The current JRE can be downloaded from the Java website https://www.java.com or from https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp. 1b) Example 64-bit version JRE Example of a downloaded JRE file for the 64-bit version on Windows: jre-8u171-windows-x64.exe

This is usually in the "Download folder" [***] AND STILL NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED.

1c) FAQ - How to install Java (JRE/JDK) so that LibreOffice could use it? [NOTE: This last line is a link when clicked on goes here:

    https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/General/InstallJava]

2) https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/General/InstallJava#Using_Windows

  • 3) LibreOffice 7.3 ReadMe:

https://git.libreoffice.org/core/tree/master/README.md

Here's the bits of LibreOffice ReadME: I think are of use:

Notes on Installation

LibreOffice requires a recent version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for full functionality. JRE is not part of the LibreOffice installation package, it should be installed separately. System Requirements

  • Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, 8, 8.1 Update (S14) or 10

Please be aware that administrator rights are needed for the installation process.

Please make sure you have enough free memory in the temporary directory on your system, and please ensure that read, write and run access rights have been granted. Close all other programs before starting the installation process.

Problems When Sending Documents as Emails From LibreOffice

When sending a document via 'File - Send - Document as Email' or 'Document as PDF Attachment' problems might occur (program crashes or hangs). This is due to the Windows system file "Mapi" (Messaging Application Programming Interface) which causes problems in some file versions. Unfortunately, the problem cannot be narrowed down to a certain version number. For more information visit https://www.microsoft.com to search the Microsoft Knowledge Base for "mapi dll".
