I save my most active bookmarks on the Bookmark Menu page and sort them by clicking and dragging. This has worked for years. About a month ago, I found that on re-opening that some bookmarks had shifted position. I'd move them back, but on returning to the page even a minute later they'd shifted again in a different way.

Worse, often when I'd click and drag, the bookmark wouldn't go where I wanted, but would jump up three to five spaces.

This problem first occurred a month or so ago, went away, and has now returned. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix?

My Firefox automatically updates. My current version is 66.0.5 (64-bit).

Are you possibly using Sync to sync bookmarks because this can sometimes cause such issues?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

In case errors are reported with "Verify Integrity" close and restart Firefox and retry.

Thank you. (1) I don't use Synch, as I don't have other devices. (2) No problems were detected in the "places" of "favicons" files. However, (3) closing and restarting Firefox does seem for the moment to have stopped the odd jumping and migration problem.
