Is this with using Firefox to access the e-mail provide, or are you using an e-mail browser like Thunderbird?

Log out of the website, then carefully log back in.

Have checked my profile and it is still in my name but emails are not mine. Where can I change the email address in my profile for gmail delivery?

The incoming mail, is it to your mailbox or your wife's? Are you sharing the same address?

There are only two ways you can be in Gmail without being asked to log in:

(1) You have a Google cookie set indicating that you already logged in, or (2) A password filler is logging you in using your wife's account

My bet is on the cookie. To remove your Google cookies, you can view a page on the site -- either in email or search, and then call up the Cookies dialog using either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In that dialog that opens, google.com should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page and you should be logged out. Does that work?

Good morning Fred from New Zealand We have 2 separate email addresses. Not sure what you mean about my mailbox or or here. I open my Firefox browser. I usually download my email in there. Sometime recently I must have made to changes to my profile that changed my email address to hers and I only get her emails to her email address when I open the browser. Am I being clear enough? Thanks for your advice on this so far. Bruce

When you go to say gmail.com which is a webmail or web based email site in a browser, you may just simply be logged into her @gmail.com account still. You can just sign out of her account and then log into your own @gmail.com email account.

Firefox is a web browser and not a email client and not a website or a search engine or such and does not need an account anywhere in order to use it.

Thanks everyone. I tried all the options you gave and it is fixed. Don't ask me which one did it because I did not keep notes. BUT it is fixed and I am back to normal. Great service Bruce
