I keep getting Error 404 message when opening some websites. The site comes up briefly then goes to message. Same site works in Safari every time.

When trying to access a new website either by typing it in or being redirected from another window, the website I want will flash up then go to a Server Error "404 - File or directory not found." The same website will work perfectly in Safari. I am on a Mac running OS X 10.6.8 & Firefox 32.0.2. The problem is only recent, probably since the latest update of Firefox.
