There are a couple of issues I've noticed while viewing live streaming video with Firefox. Sites that use html 5 to stream live video play slow and buffer constantly in Firefox. The same sites work fine in Chrome and Edge. Are there any settings or plugins that might help?

Sites that use Flash for the live video feeds work somewhat better but I have to disable hardware acceleration and click the icon to manage plugin use and select allow. I also check the option to remember my choice. If I open an new tab I need to select the manage plugin use and allow again. For the hardware acceleration I have the option unchecked to use hardware acceleration in the Firefox options yet acceleration is always on next time I open Firefox.

Can hardware acceleration be permanently disabled? How about remembering the allow flash choice?

Firefox: 58.0.2 (32-bit) Windows 10 latest update

You can permanently disable hardware acceleration if you need to, here's how:

1. Type about:preferences in your address bar and press enter.

2. Under the General Tab there should be a section called Performance

3. Under Performance, clear the Use recommended performance settings checkbox.

4. Uncheck Use hardware acceleration when available.

5. Restart Firefox'

if that doesn't save your setting, or work, you can try this instead:

Set this pref to false on the about:config page instead of disabling hardware acceleration.

media.windows-media-foundation.allow-d3d11-dxva

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

Hello, When I go to about:config "media.windows-media-foundation.allow-d3d11-dxva" is not there.
