In Account Settings>Local Folders>Disk Space ... I have "Don't delete any messages" selected, and yet trash items are being deleted and are not under my control as they used to be. Why? How do I get control of when trash items are deleted? In a busy inbox one wants to keep it clean but can accidentally delete something not intended. I used to be able to go find it and keep as many deleted messages as I wanted (usually 90 days worth) and block delete them when I wanted to delete them. It seems I have lost that capability. Can I get it back? Why should I not have control over my own trash folder?

Are you using an IMAP account. Most folk with your issues are using IMAP and have a server administrator that has set policy for the trash to auto empty it or to delete mail after X days in trash. usually 7 or 14. Although some empty it on exit.

In Server Options>Server Type=Pop Mail Server, Server Name=pop.mail.yahoo.com. Not IMAP. Actually, I have two mail accounts and both are set to Server Type=Pop Mail Server.
