Have installed latest version of Firefox but web pages keep stating I am running old version no longer supported
I keep downloading and installing latest version (8) of Firefox. The browser states I have Firefox 8. However, on Google Mail and some other websites I get a message stating I am running an out of date unsupported version of Firefox.

The article says to reset the following, which you included as having:
- general.useragent.extra.microsoftdotnet (first bulleted item under 1.)
- general.useragent.override (Comment: this is most likely the one causing you the problem)
NOTE: restart Firefox after resetting those items.
Those are both shown as "1. If they exist, you may also need to reset:" following item 3. (that 1. should be a 4.; that is an error in the formatting of the article.)

Reset all the general.useragent. prefs that are bold and say user set.
type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.
Filter = general.useragent.
Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.
Then restart Firefox
