Hi rplecs Please share the following three settings on your FF profile:

  1. History as in <https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/settings-privacy-browsing-history-do-not-track>
  2. in about:config, which value do you have for:

- places.history.enabled" and - browser.privatebrowsing.autostart

As for point #1, your safest bet IMHO is to affine the history/privacy settings just like Use custom settings for history" in the provided link.

History and cookies can be removed or not recorded several ways;

  • 1) Running Firefox in Private Mode (nothing is recorded)
  • 2) Privacy settings
    (Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.)
  • 3) Many disk cleaners and anti-virus type programs can remove data from browsers. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
  • 4) Mal-ware.

Installed Plug-ins

Are these the same thing? Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.

Note that it is about:config with a colon (about: is a special protocol).

What makes you think that Firefox isn't saving the history?

Do you see any history in the history sidebar (Ctrl+H)?

Firefox shows "Use custom settings for history" as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made. If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".

FredMcD pointed out what to check out in case you not having Navigation History saved in Firefox. Here's the link https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/settings-privacy-browsing-history-do-not-track (editor added a '>' in my first post) that shows how to check your Firefox history setting. That FredMcD told you how to enter it:

   2) Privacy settings
   (Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar.)
