A few things. I am a new user to Thunderbird, and have been using Outlook 2003 for quite some time now (19 years I guess!)

In setting up Thunderbird, I am trying to import data from Outlook 2003, most specifically the address book, but Thunderbird will not find it. It is in the location Microsoft chooses when installing Outlook and Thunderbird will not find it. I have also copies the "outlook.pst" file into the default Thunderbird profile directory, and still Thunderbitd will not find it. How can I get Thunderbird to import my address book? Is importing from such an old program not supported by Thunderbird?

Also, I have a sound file I would like to use when new mail arrives that I have also copied into the profile directory, and have browsed to it in settings, but when I press the "Play" button, it does not play the file. Does the *.mp3 file need to be somewhere else? Will Thunderbird play an .mp3 file, or does it need to be a .wav file?

Is Outlook still installed on the same computer with TB? That's necessary for the Tools/Import routine, and even then it might not work. Can you export the Outlook contacts to a csv file or multiple vCards?

For the sound, TB requires wav files, or mp3 files with a wav header. Most audio players can decode an mp3 to wav. A standard, 16 bit, 44kHz, 2-channel wav is the most compatible format.
