Some web pages taking long to load or not loading at all.
For perhaps a month now some web pages take a long time to load. Seems like mostly Amazon but, it seems it can do this on any web page. It can take from 5 to 10 seconds. That is a long time to just sit and wait and is several times longer than it used to take.
Also, sometimes the new tab goes to the right address but there is just a blank page. I may have to reload the page 5 times for the page to actually appear. I'm sure it happens when opening a new tab, but I just realized I don't know if it happens when opening a new window.
Could I have changed some setting somewhere that would make pages take longer to load?

Make sure you are not blocking content.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Thank you for your reply.
It may take me a few days to figure out if this solves the problem.

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.
Thanks Fred,
It looks like this is going to take a while to determine just when the problem happens. While not is safe mode, I turned off ublock and everything seemed to go well most of the day. After hours of operation, pages started to take a long time again.
Yesterday I was in safe mode most of the day. A bit difficult to get around because no bookmarks and no password auto-fill. It was difficult to tell just what was happening because on the unaccustomed delays due to ads.
I will try to better figure out just what is happening and when. I will start a new post when I get more complete information.
Thanks for getting me started in the right direction.
