Firefox routinely is using 338+ MB (67%) of my memory, when I only have four apps running and Firefox is static on my two tabs related to my e-mail accounts.

I have Carbonite with Mirror Image backup, which incessantly hangs to be Non Responsive, and fails to create mirror image. Also, my Firefox consumes the majority of my resources while presumably at rest with only two e-mail account sites on tabs, where the only other apps operating are: Carbonite using 23.4 Mb memory (0-0.1% CPU), Firefox using 318.9 Mb memory (2.3% CPU), Norton Utilities 0.4 Mb memory (0% CPU), and Task Manager 12.8 Mb memory (0.2% CPU). My resources consumption is 29% CPU, 67% Memory, and 35% disc, with the dynamic resource consumption under the Firefox app, primarily. I am not web surfacing or playing any games, and only have two tabs open on a single page for two e-mail accounts. I cannot understand the frantic activity of Firefox despite the static or inactive internet activity other than to receive e-mails?
