Youtube Videos Now Stutter
Hi there
I've had firefox for years and never had much issues. I've never had this issue before the most recent update where now youtube videos constantly stutter. It's just Firefox as other browsers work fine. I've updated my graphics card and did a little bit of research but none of the fixes quite did it for me. In the past couple days I've always had Firefox crash on me twice, which hasn't happened before either. So I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm prone to point fingers at an update. I don't install extensions or themes, so the only extension I have really is uBlock Origin but that's been there forever. I've restarted my computer as well. It is not my resources, they are more than fine my RAM and CPU and Graphics Card. Task manager shows nothing is even above 50% (CPU, GPU, Memory) when playing the video. I've also tried creating a new profile and opening up a new profile. Same issue.
Can anyone suggest any fixes or is this a firefox update bug?
EDIT: This appears to be for all videos I am playing on Firefox. It also does not matter if I set it to the lowest quality, even 144p, it will still stutter nonstop.

I found the solution. It wasn't Firefox's fault on this one, but the crashes I think were different from the solution so could be on their end. Not sure but my fix is probably very unique. If you go to Sounds -> Recording I had a webcam plugged in a USB which has a mic, I noticed the mic side of it was constantly disappearing and reappearing every other second, about my stuttering length and I also know unplugging and replugging a device in will cause a brief stutter. So I unplugged the webcam from the USB and all seems well so far. Glad I thought to check there!

Do you have the same issue with Firefox in Safe Mode? What security software are you running? What version on Windows 10 are you running?

I do still have the issue in Safe Mode. I have the defaults + Malware Bytes and I use Glasswire to monitor network activity. It's Windows 10 Home Edition v. 19043.1766 - but my OS has been the same this entire time and I've never had any issues for years of usage. This problem just suddenly appeared since a new Firefox update, as well as me crashing a couple times out of nowhere, and it seems after the 2nd crash it hasn't been working right since.
I haven't changed anything, downloaded anything, edited anything, or anything since this happened and videos now stutter. I checked - all websites that play video, even non-youtube videos, stutter, and even with a new profile in safe mode, it continues to stutter nonstop basically. All I know is, I updated, I've crashed twice since, the 2nd crash seems to have been the starting point of when my videos began stuttering, maybe a little after but it was definitely within that 2nd crash. I submitted the crash report to mozilla, not sure if it'll help but it's all I can think to do right now.

Can you disabled all security software, reboot the computer, and test to see if you still have issues?

I have tried the suggestions here but nothing works. I keep getting buffering or messages saying that maybe restarting my computer will work but it doesn't. Don't have issues with other browsers. Seems that the issue started after recent Firefox updates.
