Firefox starts to play an MP3 podcast (that I want to download) with Quicktime, instead of saving it. Why???

When I click on a MP3 file that is a PODCAST, to DOWLOAD it, (from NPR, for example) Firefox OPENS Quicktime and PLAYS the podcast, instead of downloading it like it USED to, with the older version (not MUCH older...) version. WHY???? There is no 'association' for MP3 files with Quicktime, in the 'Tools' 'associations' menu. What is going on?

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

== I updated to the latest version of firefox

I'm trying to download from here:

http://www.npr.org/rss/podcast/podcast_directory.php?type=provider&value=1#podcast1

I've been doing it for YEARS with older versions of Firefox.

Frakking updates.....

I figured out how to fix this one on mine: Under Tools>Options>Applications, I selected MP3 and changed the option to "Save File." I linked to an mp3, watched it bring up the Download Manager and start the download. I canceled that and went back and changed it to "Always Ask." THIS time it worked.

I could not get it to work by just changing the selection from "Quicktime" to "Save File" for some reason. I also don't know how Quicktime became the option here from one session to another - it probably was a Quicktime update. Anyway, this fixed it - for now! Those Gremlins never give up, though.
