The problem continues. Firefox opens the gmail home page as an example and the User and Password fields are blank. Clicking on the user field does nothing. When I enter the user name and click on the password, firefox automatically adds the password. I am trying to click on my bookmark and have the system go through the home page, add my user name, and enter the password,

Make sure that you not run Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode. In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working. You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing". See Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_Private_Browsing ..... You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History" To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history UnCheck: [[ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

I have not been in private mode. Checked again to be sure.

You can check http://kb.mozillazine.org/Password_only_filled_after_entering_user_name

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

I did the about:config routine and the signon.autofillforms was set to true

Anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks for trying

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions. You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

Hi,

I bet you have Google Toolbar, don't you? For some reason, Google Toolbar messes up many username/password entries.

On the Firefox menu bar, go to Tools > Add-Ons. Find Google Toolbar, click Disable, Restart Firefox.

Now go to the page you want. See if that solves the problem.

If you search Google's forums, they are aware of the problem, but either can't or won't fix it, as yet, it seems.

Hope this helps someone.
