press F10. This will show the menu temporarily. Then access the view menu and turn on the menu bar. Or Right click on the toolbar (after Send, Spelling etc and select menu bar from the pop up that appears. While on that menu click on customize and drag the paste icon to the toolbar others you might want to add are the cut and copy buttons and the contacts (unless you have the contacts pane turned on all the time.

I also put the quote there so I don't have to quote in every reply. Only when I want to. But that does require turning off quoting in account settings. It also makes it possible to quote the selected email in a "new" email. Saves typing at times.

However if you are emailing in HTML (the default) you have a compose toolbar above the body of the email and clicking the little picture icon (second from last) insert picture is offered to you can insert from a file.

Perhaps the easiest method these days is to drag the file instead of opening it. AN overlay appears asking if you want the image inserted or attached, based on which side of the screen you drop it. how do you go about inserting the images?

Hello Matt!

Usually images are stored in various directories of my laptop or PC. I used to open an image, copy it and then go to back into Thunderbird and paste the image into the message I was writing. Worked just fine for a long time. After much searching and trying this and that, I noticed that when a new message is opened in TBird, that the Write window DOES NOT HAVE A MENU BAR at the very top line of the Write window!! What I see on the very top line is the word "Write". I just can't seem to somehow produce or get a Menu bar line with miscellaneous commands such as "Insert", etc. which in the past let me insert the copied image from some other program into TBird.

How does one go about to have the Write window pop open with its very own Menu bar?

So this fact of 'no Menu Bar present in the Write window' seems to be the real crux of the problem. Am I right?

Good afternoon, Matt!

WOW! You hit the jackpot! I've now got a Menu bar in my Write window -- and best of all, if it disappears again, I'll know how to get it back. It's great to have the experts close by. Much appreciated, dear friend.
