An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: 5.7.1 Connection refused. 173.244.200.33 is blacklisted in Spamhaus RBL List.
I have used Thunderbird for many years without a problem. Two weeks ago I went onto NBN with Telstra but retained my e-mail address with AMNET. Some account adjustments were needed to allow this to happen but I can now send and receive e-mail through AMNET. Each evening I put my laptop into sleep mode and re-open in the morning. For the past 10 days I have been able to receive e-mails but unable to send. However, if I re-boot my laptop it all works again and I can send and receive e-mails.
When trying to send e-mails prior to rebooting, the following error message appears:
An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: 5.7.1 Connection refused. 173.244.200.33 is blacklisted in Spamhaus RBL List. See http://www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=173.244.200.33.
Does anyone know how to fix?

your IP address has been blacklisted for sending spam. It might be that you have sent none but the last person to have it sent lots.
The real issue is is it your providers mail server that is refusing mail (you will need to ring and try and locate a human at telstra that actually knows what they are talking about. That is not level one support. Good luck with that)
Or is the error coming from the server the mail is being delivered to, in which case Telstra has a problem. Nothing new there either.
I strongly suggest you ring Telstra, even if my own experiences have all been bad it is not something you can fix yourself..
