Hi, Google isn't recognizing me/my account, so no gmail working, Google Maps not working, can't sign in to Google, or original Mozilla account as forgotten Mozilla Username & Password! Was receiving following message, but now just nothing. May be to do with TESCO suggesting that I remove cookies to fix their site, which I've done twice now, but still same issues: Message says: Secure Connection Failed, an error occured during a connection to accounts.google.co.uk. You have received an invalid certificate. Your certificate contains the same serial number as another certificate issued by the certificate authority. Please get a new certificate containing a unique serial number. Error code: SEC_ERROR_REFUSED_ISSUER_AND_SERIAL Many thanks for any help offered, Victor.

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

For Google; Can you still sign in using the same credentials in another browser such as Internet Explorer or Google Chrome? Just want you to be sure your account is secure and working. if there is a problem even in another browser, contact Google for help with that.

Have you encountered any issues connection to HTTPS addresses where Firefox objects to the site's certificate? Since you have Kaspersky, this could be associated with one of its security features. More info in this article: How to troubleshoot security error codes on secure websites.

Hi jscher2000, many thanks for your advice..yes, all's well in Internet Explorer & Google Chrome..Kaspersky often objects to certificates but no reason to crash Google suddenly, & you've led me to info for dealing with Kaspersky, but issue remains a mystery to date..now I shall follow your advice & other subsequent links & update you as it goes. Best ones, Victor.

Kaspersky often objects to certificates

How does that manifest itself?

You probably noticed that the Google login process uses a complex sequence of scripts and is on a different site (accounts.google.com) which requires the ability to share data across servers. This should work seamlessly, so naturally I'm suspicious that a setting, add-on, or external filter is causing this problem. When you Refresh, before you modify Firefox with manual changes or using Sync, the only factor would be external.

Hey jscher2000, I suspect 'NetSave', video downloader prog., which has gone since 'Refresh', & I've also un-ticked 'Advanced Disinfection' in Kaspersky which is stated as being resource intensive, whatever, MF eventually decided to work properly again!!..watch this space!..so am still not quite sure what happened, but also suspect my initial procedure of following TESCO Support 'advice' telling me to delete all cookies when their TESCO Direct site was jamming on my machine...!!! You've given me good food for thought tho & I appreciate greatly your responses, big thanks, Victor.'

P.S. I also re-installed MF for a second time..
