how to drag text from notepad or wordpad and have it copy rather than pull the dialog away from the source document.
So when filling in some forms I often drag info from a wordpad document into each field, with firefox this removes the text from the source document. Now with chrome it leaves text in the source document and copy's it into the web form. I much prefer firefox and really wish it would perform this function as chrome does.

I've never tried that before...
I tested with MS Word. When my mouse pointer is over the area where I plan to drop (this box I'm typing in now), I can see that it's a "move" cursor instead of a "copy" cursor. The content is removed from Word, although I can use Undo (Ctrl+z) in Word to get my text back.
If I press the Ctrl key down just before dropping in Firefox, the mouse pointer changes to a copy cursor and then when I release the mouse it doesn't affect the original document.
Hmm, I don't know if there is a setting to flip that so you don't have to press Ctrl while dropping, but at least you have a workaround.
(Do you think drag-and-drop is faster than copy/paste? That's what I normally do, using Ctrl+c to copy and Ctrl+v to paste, or sometimes right-click > Paste.)
Helpful, I will try using the control before I drop text.
I was hoping I was just overlooking some toggle to change this function. I appreciate your response!
You can use <Control> C or the above instructions.
