All address books were there previously. Now, none show, and I cannot search for an address--the pane says "Contacts from remote address books are not shown until you search" and under that it says "This address book shows contacts only after you search." The addresses are still there somewhere (they pop up when I'm typing an address in a new message), but they don't show in the Address Book function.

Problem still the same. Is there some change I should make while in safe mode? By the way, I have added an email address for a new contact by manually typing it in (in correct format) and the message was sent, and the address comes up when entered in the "Write" window to send a new message. So, the address book is accepting new entries, I just can't search it (them) or view it by typing the first letters in the search bar in the address book. Thanks for your help.

Eureka! Updating add-ons fixed it. Duh.
