You can try 64bit Firefox, for Windows already on Beta or Developer channels. If you try the developer channel it will install as an additional browser with its own profile and own install folder, so it will not interfere with your current install. If you try the Beta you may need to manually create a separate profile.

I do not follow the progress of 64 bit Firefox on Windows. I am not certain what the details are of plans to offer the 64 bit version on Release. Looking at this though it appears it is more likely it will not be until Fx42 https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/win64#Roll_out_Phases

Just because there are Win64 (there has been 64-bit for OSX and Linux since Fx 4.0) builds of Firefox 39.0 on Beta channel does not mean there will indeed be Win64 Firefox for when Firefox 39.0 is released next Tuesday June 30.

There were Win64 builds of 37.0b# and 38.0b# on the Beta development channel before also.

That's right. There's no Win64 stable version of Firefox being released yet until near the end of 2015. Plus a win64 edition of Firefox requires minimum Win7 x64 or higher and won't run on WinXP x64 & Vista x64 versions.

No certainly about this part though especially with no proof. It is not a matter of when but rather no version is targeted for Win64 Release at moment.

OK, but when does the stable version of Firefox 39 release?? I thought it was supposed to be Tuesday the 23rd. Even if it isn't the 64 bit version I am waiting for.

Looks like Tuesday 30th June. But there I some flexibility with some throttling depending partly on how well things go. Check by using

Menu button -> Help -> About Firefox 

Do that especially from 29th June to get this as soon as possible.

That is beyond disappointing. Not only was the 64 bit version probably not going to be released but now the regular Firefox is being delayed. My simple little heart can't handle this anymore.

Let's go to the Moon, Mars and back!!! (and if we do 64 bit Firefox will probably still not be available)

the final release version of firefox 39 on windows was never being supposed to come out as 64bit as well - this will continue to be baked on beta for the moment.

there is a startup crash in firefox 39beta caused by malware which developed in the past few days, which would affect tens of thousands of users - so this is figured out first before the final version is released to a broader audience. no reason to be disappointed about...

Currently Firefox Private Browsing mode is per window. Per Tab Private browsing is available in the Release version right now with this extension. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/private-tab/

As I recall, the Nightly version ( e 10s aka Electrolysis) is working on PB per Tab. e 10s is currently enabled by default, so release for that isn't too far off. Maybe with the release of the Win64 Release version by the end of this year.

So any release updates? Tomorrow? Thursday? 2085?

What I meant was when I'm browsing normally and I come across a link I may not want in my Normal Browsing session or history, what I do is I open that link in a private window. When I'm done with it I go back to the Normal Browsing window. Then I come across another link I would like to see in private. If I right-click it into private window mode it will automatically open another private window.

This is what I meant by "Opera and Chrome do not do this". It's for the times I'm doing Normal Browsing and I momentarily want to go private. Firefox should just use that one private window opened. It should not open so many private windows when one should suffice for all Private Browsing.

In Opera and Chrome all Normal Browsing links opened into Private/Incognito mode open into just one private window.

Yeah I get it man and thanks for the suggestions! The Thing is I really like Firefox but sometimes it just seems like it's behind a bit when it shouldn't be. Beginning with no 64 bit windows version, and then lately with how slow and laggy it has become with or without add-ons and then a whole other set of issues, it just bothers me because I really do believe that it is better than Chrome and Opera. However Chrome and Opera are just buttery-smooth and really fast and don't lag.

Due to a recent change of plans there May be Win64 for Release as early as Fx 39.0.1 (if released for a chemspill update) or Fx 40.0

The main minimum requirements so far I have seen from Testers is needing 64-bit Windows 7 and newer and needing 64-bit Plugins as 32-bit Plugins will not work on Win64 builds. That is if Flash is supported.

Did not post the related bug # on this change as I do not want newer users of bugzilla to spam bug with unnecessary comments as such has caused delays before on things.
