Hi,

I think I found a weird Bug in the new FF. I am using FF 57.0.2 (64-bit), Win 10,

and it happened already a few times , when I surf and leave FF open for a few hours without closing it in between surfing sessions (to play radio for example), FF wont load any new sites I visit at one point. The only solution then is to completely close FF and run it again, after the restart of FF it works normally.

This usually happens after excessive surfing times (a few hours at minimum) without closing FF completely in between. Its not specific website related. Also, for reference, chrome works normally at this point.

Its not exactly reproducible, but i can make a screenshot next time it happens if needed.

What happens is with multiple tabs open and left alone then wake up is Firefox is rechecking all the open tabs for changes and writing information to sesionrestore. You stop it before it is finished.

If system is low ram then this is to be expected. 5 Extensions give or take is 120megs of ram. Need to follow what is going on in Task Manager as to usage.

Go the 3 Bar Menu then Options --> General --> Performance and untick everything. change the recommended size lower then see how it runs. Note: 1 = No Multiprocessor = slow again. Try 2 Restart Firefox after making these changes please.

Test then See what happens when turn Hardware Acceleration back on (Video Card} TEST

Run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files.

Go through Settings in Win 10, turn off every thing that does not need to be turned on. Right Click and uninstall programs of MS that will Uninstall. Stop them from running at start up. Empty Offline Maps and turn it off and use online maps or Google Maps. Go up the Start Menu and again right click and see if can uninstall.

All uninstalled programs can be reinstalled.

Use O&O ShutUp10 to block Win 10 from sending gigs of your info back to them. https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 Always check for new versions. Download to a Folder called TOOLS on your Desk Top and run, it creates 1 .ini file. New version download and overwrite then run again after major/large updates.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi,

beforehand, the problem also happens on a shortly started session (a few minutes at most).

regarding your tips, thanks for the ideas, I did the performance part, and disk cleanup (albeit unnecessary). Since then, it didn't happen again. It has been 4 weeks now and the problem didn't reoccur so I will mark it as solved.

Thank you very much for the help.
