since downloading firefox my computer has been getting infected every day

Have had this laptop since December 2010. Never had any problem with infiltrations. Everyone said Firefox was better than Internet Explorer. Don't know if it is a coincidence but since I started using Firefox, my computer has been getting infected every day. Have ESET Smart Security 4 and it will clean some of the files but shows error when cleaning others. Is there something I can do?

Can you list the types of infections you are getting? For example, are you getting bad scripts from web sites, trojans, tracking cookies, etc. The remedies may be very different.

And where are they supposedly located?

If they are in the Firefox Cache then they are harmless while in there.

The 3 that my ESET can't clean are C:\ProgramData\Java\VerifierNotifier.dll and the threat says a variant of Win32/Kryptik.TGTtrojan (two of these) and one C:\Users\All Users\JavaVerifierNotifier.dll and a variant of Win32Kryptik.TGT.trojan

I see them when I run a computer scan. Don't know much about computers so I don't know what the Firefox cache is. Sorry

The Firefox cache saves time when you visit a page a second time: it is folder that stores the images and various other bits and pieces that the site indicates are unlikely to change between visits. For comparison, Internet Explorer calls its cache folder Temporary Internet Files.

Does your scan show the actual location of the threat? You might take a few moments to poke around the next time and see where they are. As well as what kind they are.

I'm not familiar with those. Can you try a supplemental scanner/cleaner for a second opinion and possible better luck with removal? These two tools are highly regarded:

Malwarebytes Anti-malware : http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free

SUPERAntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/

I downloaded both of them. Will run another computer scan and see what happens. I will let you know. Thank you!

When I ran the Superantispyware it found 1862 things it needed to fix. That made me nervous so I deleted the program from my computer. My 3 threats are still there and I still don't know what to do. At least I don't have any new ones!
