How do I undo Sync on someone else's browser so that their settings are reinstated?

I was visiting family without my laptop. I borrowed someone else's laptop and signed into Sync to have access to my bookmarks, etc.

When I was done I used the "disconnect" feature to sign out of Sync. But all that accomplished was severing the connection to my account - it did not undo my synced settings. I searched Support for how to do this and found nothing, and I ran out of time to do a more exhaustive search. In desperation I did a reset so that my settings would disappear, but that also caused an override of the customized settings that were on the browser before I signed into Sync.

What's the right way to do this? How to undo Sync so that previous settings are reinstated?

Thanks.

Hi

Sync is designed to port across a copy of the data that you have selected should be picked up by the service to be used on another device. When you sign in n another device, Sync will bring across a copy of those settings to that device.

Sync is not designed as cloud storage of bookmarks and other information, it is designed as a mechanism to take what you may use (for example) on a laptop and have it available when you use Firefox on a mobile phone.
