I found that I still have Firefox 48 (x86) installed along with ver 61 (64-bit) - is it OK to uninstall the old one?

OS = Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. I discovered that Firefox 48 (x86) remains installed long after the 64 bit upgrade. However, the only directory containing firefox.exe is Program Files (x86) which seems to contain old and new Firefox files. I nervously anticipate that havoc may occur if I uninstall the old one. Maybe I should just back up my bookmarks and go for a new clean install...?

Hi, no it is not until you do this :

Copy your Profile folder out also and delete after uninstall. :

Now : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system.

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 61.0.1 with a Full Version Installer from :

Do you see this specific Firefox version listed in "Windows Control Panel -> Programs" with the correct installation directory so you can uninstall it and cleanup the registry?

Otherwise you can simply remove the Firefox installation folder.

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you uninstall or reinstall Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
