Since crytomining is attractive to lots of people, there are sites whose owners put some crytomining scripts on their sites and abuse the users visiting their sites and make money out of it. It's very bad that someone spend my electricity and internet and make money for their own sake.

I've been fighting with this by adding add-ons and banning url's but it requires maintenance, since in whichever way, the basic principle is pretty much ad-blocking. So I think one easy way to fix all problems, is to limit cpu usage to a very low level, say 1%, such that even if I got into such problems, I do not have to bother fixing it.

Any chance such functionality has been built in already?

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad / pop-up blocker.

Every now and then, you should run a malware scanner to make sure your system is clean. This is in addition to using a virus scanner.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

I am sorry but this mechanized answer doesn't say anything about the problem.

I was referring to in-browser crypto miner, like this one: https://github.com/cazala/coin-hive

there are cryptominer blockers, but they are not as organized as ad blocker, and is very easy to break; just need to have another url. it's often based on maintainers' personal experience to add such urls.

what I was asking is, if there exists a setting which can put a hard limit on tab's cpu usage. this will kill off all these problems.

it has not even things to do with viruses. it's a malware though, which cannot be captured by anti-virus cuz it's run INSIDE of firefox.

Hi, Answer is no. Can reduce the amount of cpu cores being used : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings

A paid version of Malwarebytes would stop that before it begins.
