The menu represented by a 3 lines icon, usually located at the right corner of the window, disappeared and I need it back! It gave access to a bunch of stuff like book marks, tools, extentions and other very helpful shortcuts. I'm not technical at all and need my 3 line icon back. Can anyone please help?

A couple other thoughts:

  • Make sure Firefox is not in full screen view. The F11 key switches between regular and full screen views.
  • Does the problem occurs only from links/buttons that automatically launch a new window? It's possible that some features are missing from new windows opened that way. Try Ctrl+n to launch a new "regular" window or Ctrl+Shift+p to launch a new "private" window and see whether those have a complete toolbar.

Are either of those relevant?

The System Details to the right of your posting shows that you are using Firefox 14.0.1 which was released on June 5, 2012. The '3-bar' Open Menu button isn't in older versions such as that. It first appeared in Firefox 29.0 on April 29, 2014.

The most recent version of Firefox is available here. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Or, it might be a case of a malicious external program changing a setting or something that "snuck into Firefox" and changed the UserAgent that is being 'broadcast' to websites. See this to fix it. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-reset-default-user-agent-firefox
