I'm using FF 18 and found out that I don't have a remove button on any of my addons. Is this because of the beta FF or a problem with this version? Thank you, Terry Morris

Did you install those extensions yourself?

The Remove button is missing if extensions are installed globally, i.e. not in the extensions folder in the Firefox Profile Folder.

I installed all my addons, and on older ver. of FF had the remove buttons. I don't always check to see about my addons, but I was having problems with my computer, and had to reload FF., that's when I noticed that I didn't have any remove buttons.

Extensions that are installed and visible in the extensions folder in the Firefox Profile Folder should have an Remove button to uninstall them.

Can you confirm that all extensions have their folder or XPI file present in that extensions folder folder?

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.

If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.
