I know I've asked this question before, but no one replied, or no one bothers.

How do I disable the sound/popup alerts on rss/news feed updates, which started to appear unexpectedly since about v. 78.8.1, and enable only on personal messages?

This is really annoying, and I believe it's a regression, since it wasn't this way before that version. Please help.

at the beginning of 2022 I told you the option was not a per account basis. That remains unchanged and asking the same question over and over will not change the response. I can not be bothered because as far as I am concerned you have the answer.

Just so you understand. There is an active enhancement request to make such alerts on a per account basis. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311640 That request has now been active for 18 years.

This bug is from around the 78 cycle. It has plenty of further reading in the "see also" and "Blocks" Personally I have all notifications turned off, so such things have no relevance to me.

But how come feeds have become a separate "account"? Why not just revert it to the way it was before v. 78.x? All personal mail - sound alert, all feeds/news, no sound alert. I'm no programmer, but it really sounds simple, like change a single boolean or whatever.
