Dam browser keeps saying my location is 200 plus miles from where I am
How do I stop this dam browser from assuming on a search I am 200 plus miles from where I am. I search for say a doctor and ask the directions it assumes start location is over 200 miles from where I am and gives directions from there making directions totally worthless!!!! I want to turn off this option where so it just shows a map as to where the destination is and nothing else!!!

hello dr,
i do not believe the browser itself is providing webpages with who you are and where you are.
instead, i think you need to tweak the search settings of the map application you are using.
for example, in googles map you can enter your home address.
the instructions for the above can be ascertained by entering the following in a google search engine:
" Edit home address "
(forgive me for not giving you a search engine url. but website addresses posted here cause a delay in people seeing our responses)
Websites generally guess your location from your IP address, which is assigned by your service provider. Mine shows a regional hub for my ISP, for example, and not my own city. Of course, I don't mind that most websites don't know my address, and I usually don't need to tell them.
Some sites may request your precise location, and in that case, Firefox should show a permission panel that drops from the left end of the address bar. If the site you're using doesn't have that feature, or if you disabled precise location in Firefox, then the method ~dbben mentioned of looking for the site settings would be the next best thing.
