I am trying to move my address book from one Windows 7 computer to another. Both are running Thunderbird 45.6.0. MozillaZine Moving address books between profiles - method 2 "export an address book as a LDIF file and then import it. It says "go to the "tools" menu and select "Export" I cannot find "Export" only "import". Where is the export button?

The text refers to a Tools menu, which may not be displayed unless chosen to make the Menu bar visible. You can press Alt or F10 to view it temporarily, or (when at it) make this persistent using View > Toolbars > Menu Bar. Import and Export are menu items, not tabs or buttons.

Yet I wonder where you do see an Import entry, since that should not be available either if the above is of help. Could it be you are using some add-on that may be interfering? The quick way of finding out is starting Thunderbird in Safe Mode.

I suggest you open the address book instead of trying to use the main program window.

Thanks, when I open the address book there is no "tools" tab and still no export button. I guess I must be doing something wrong.

Thank you. I needed to use alt and then go to view to show the menu bar in address book.
