Another URL is being auto prefixed to the main url in the address bar.
Another URL is being auto prefixed to the main url in the address bar. Even after deleting the prefixed URL it again appears when I run the main URL.
Sometimes this rogue URL goes away on its own and then again appears at will. It is a site whose URL actually consists of numbers only (192.168.1.1) and I've been using this site.
But why the hell should it be prefixed to any URL of any site I try to open.
Anyone can think of any solution to this strange problem?

The address 192.168.1.1 is in a range used for devices internal to your network, such as your router or your own computer. Perhaps a proxy server is running??
You could start by checking your Firefox connection settings here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
In the left column, click Advanced. On the right side, click the "Network" mini-tab and then the "Settings" button.
The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows LAN connection settings, but you could try "No proxy" to see whether that makes a difference.
Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.
If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.
If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
- "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
and OK the restart.
Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).
Any improvement?
jscher2000, thanks for your suggestion. I am keeping the problem under observation and will implement your tips and check if it really solves my problem or not.
Btw, the URL 192.168.1.1 belongs to my 4G hotspot.
