Mozilla Firefox 47.0 on Linux Mint 17 Qiana 64bits

While browsing on my own created map https://www.google.com/maps (eg: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit?hl=en&authuser=0&mid=1P0m2ke5vMLeDSClVabgBSmLYx1g, not sure you have the permissions, but you can see the url pattern) and I click in one of my locations and then the link "View in Google Maps" this opens a new tab with url (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lions+Gate+Bridge/@49.3136964,-123.1427396,16z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x3e51e1a4f59d56fa!8m2!3d49.3146651!4d-123.1392098)

And a second after it crashes. I tried this with multiple points saved in my map and they always crash.

So in order to repeat the error Create your own map via Google maps, save some interest points. And later on visit them, and click in the pop-up "View in Google Maps". This action seems to trigger something that makes ff crash.

No need to reply this message. I just felt like sharing this pattern. Hope it helps you guys :)

You posted here with an Ubuntu build of Firefox.

Might be more helpful in the Linux Mint or Ubuntu fora. https://forums.linuxmint.com/ or http://ubuntuforums.org/

Mint uses the Ubuntu builds of Firefox and supplies their version of Firefox from their own repository or from the Ubuntu repo. It differs from the Linux version that Mozilla builds and hosts for download thru Mozilla.

I tried using your map and that point of interest on Windows 7. Didn't crash, but there was a sudden huge crescendo in fan noise a few moments after the "View in Google" page opened. It's doing something...

More generally, crashes on Google Maps can be related to graphics card and WebGL drivers. You might check out our article "Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL" to see whether that is applicable to your system.
