I was uploading a zip file to a website and Firefox stopped uploading it in the middle of the upload. Since that happened, I have not been able to open the site again in Firefox. I open it and all I see is connecting in top left corner of screen but it never connects. How can I fix this?

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found here: Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox

Thank you.

Clearing the cache and cookies did not help. I still cannot open the website.

Can you open that site in other browsers?

Can you access the site via Google Translate with a random source language?

You can append the URL to this link:

It said my cookies were turned off but they are not. Still cannot open the website.

Firefox Permissions Manager. Use the search bar to find you site. There may be more then one entry. Make sure that the settings for the site are correct. If there is still a problem, at the top right, use Forget About This Site.

The site opens but as soon as it does, it puts a time there and starts spinning. This site requires a password to open but I don't have the opportunity to enter the password because it just starts spinning and gives me a time.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

There was no malware or viruses found when I used Microsoft Safety Scanner and I still cannot get up on the site in Firefox.

In order to be able to find the correct solution to your problem, we require some more non-personal information from you. Please do the following:

  • Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the Help menu and select Troubleshooting Information from the submenu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select Troubleshooting Information from the menu.

Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.

  • At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
  • Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

If you need further information about the Troubleshooting information page, please read the article Use the Troubleshooting Information page to help fix Firefox issues.

I have found a crash report that happened at exactly the same time that I lost the website I have been trying to open since then. It happened on Wednesday, April 21 at 11:14 am. The crash report had id of 9bdc9092-70a1-4506-b68a-1decf2140426 with signature of F1398665248

Hi mclase.

That is a problem with the Flash plugin.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
