After the FF 58.0.2 update to my 64-bit Win 10 my bookmarks don't show on the sidebar.

When I display my bookmarks in the sidebar only 3 bookmarks that weren't in folders are displayed. All the other bookmarks that were organized in folders appear to be gone. I followed the restore procedure but nothing changed. I have rebooted my system, restarted FF, done all the basics. Through experimenting I did discover that if I type a single character (any character) in the Search box on the Bookmark sidebar I can see all my bookmarks but they are no longer organized in folders. Help! I need my organized life back.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite files Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
