I keep on getting this error message when trying to log onto my gmail account, any ideas?

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to https://mail.google.com again. If this error persists, it is possible that this site uses an unsupported protocol or cipher suite such as RC4 (link for the details), which is not considered secure. do you mean that you have in about:config the security.tls.version.min preference to 1 (default), and the security.tls.version.max preference to 3 (default) ?

could you go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...

ok, I am now getting a message which looks like this: "Secure Connection Failed

The connection to mail.google.com was interrupted while the page was loading.

As far as i know, I have Adfender filter on, but no other security software working at the moment.

ok, this sounds like a likely cause. please try to disable or fully uninstall adfender once. in addition please set up firefox in the menu ≡ > options > advanced > network > connection - settings... to directly connect to the internet ('no proxy').

furthermore i'd recommend to run a full scan of your system with different other security tools like the free trial version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner.

ok, i've uninstalled Adfender, and am running a windows defender scan now, which i remembered is installed automatically into my computer. I also changed the settings to "no proxy" as advised... but gmail is still elusive.
