Why does my Plugin status check does not load but instead it keeps spinning?
I have to update my Adobe shockwave player plugin but I can't do it since my Plugin status check page fails to show my plug ins, instead it just says "Checking with Mozilla on the status of your plugins" forever.

mozilla has been having a bit of connectivity issue to its cdn and therefore the reason why you are facing this problem. as of this time, this is no longer the case and you should be able to work properly. just restart your computer or just firefox and retry

Thanks, I got it updated now but the status check still doesn't want to load. I will keep this as unsolved as long as this problem occurs.
tried Philipp's idea?
I have same issue too, I updated or even tried other versions of flash but I believe this issue is not about flash.

Have you tried downloading a fresh installation of flash?
I've been seeing this off and on for some months, but it affects (or does not affect) different computers differently. In general, the computers are connecting to the Internet the same way, via my WiFi hub, so it's hard to see it as a connectivity issue. At this time this particular computer has been in the no-connect state for at least a week.
In the last few days the behavior has changed, with Firefox blocking the start of Flash within the browser.
Then this morning, Adobe's updater came up when the computer booted, but I don't think it succeeded.
I'm going on the assumption this machine has been pwned by the NSA, so I should feed it all sorts of misleading crap. According to that assumption, the computer will suddenly get better, but according to that assumption, it would be too revealing to respond, so down the wormhole of paranoia we shall go.

Frankly I doubt that the network connectivity is the problem, and this latest Flash-related problem was especially problematic to interpret from that perspective.
At this point I sincerely believe the most likely explanation is wholesale incompetence from the NSA spooks. It's nothing personal about me, and there is no particular reason they want to intrude on my privacy. It's just that they think they need to collect everything, but there are inconsistencies among my computers that expose bugs in their intrusive data collection systems. Now if I actually had concrete evidence beyond "sincere belief", then you can safely wager it would be somewhere else, preferably with a dead-man switch on it...
So in summary, right now things mostly seem to be okay, but I quite sincerely think it's because the NSA fixed another bug. Your tax dollars at work.

I had the problem when loged in as administrator but not when loged in as a regular user. I saved the FireFox web page in a common directory then loged in as administrator and loaded the file into FireFox. I could then attempt the updates.
I have this problem too. I've been trying over about the last week. Of course I got the the page from clicking on the "Check for Updates..." link on the disabled Adobe Shockwave Flash plugin, but that Flash doesn't have anything to do with it since the spinning circle page seems to be a generic page to check all your plugins. Why doesn't it ever finish and stop spinning and list the update status like it's supposed to?
Alternatively I went to the Tools/Add-ons pulldown menu and then went to the Extensions tab. It said Adobe Shockwave Flash extension version 18.0.0.203 is still disabled. It says "Flash Player Plugin 18.0.0.203 (click-to-play) has been blocked for your protection." Adobe has put out several updates, each claiming to fix the exploit uncovered a week or two ago. Almost every day there's a "fix". Now they say there's a Flash Player Plugin 18.0.0.209 version so I guess I'll try that.
I'd still like to know why the circle never stops spinning though.
