I'm being told I can only play msn games on IE - is that true?

My operating system is Windows 8.1. I've checked my plug-ins and those used for games are all "Always Activate." It looked like I had downloaded the msn game I purchased but when I entered the activation code and pressed Play, the window was closed. When I went into msn games support, the document stated that browsers other then IE don't support their games. I've been getting games from msn games/Oberon for several years, using Mozilla Firefox all along, and not been told I can't use my current browser. I don't like being told I have to use IE but Windows 8 has been a nightmare!

Note that extensions like IE Tab and IE view use the IE rendering engine, so you do use IE to render pages and not Firefox with all the vulnerabilities and other limitations of IE.

I'm not very tech savvy and don't understand what this means as far as downloading games from iPlay. I've been purchasing games from iPlay for several years, when it was Oberon Media and then MSN Games. I don't understand why I now am unable to download a game.
