Forgot my account password, can I reset the password and recover saved info from local copy?
So I appear to have lost my account password, but still have systems logged in to the account and syncing, and I can access my account page. I understand that if I reset my account password, stored sync passwords on the server will be deleted. However, I wanted to understand if when I reset the account password it will allow me to preserve the saved sync passwords on one of the synced system to re-populate the server.
Thanks!.

So, I bit the bullet and gave it a try.
I disconnected Sync keeping all local information (unchecked "Remove Firefox Sync Data" and "Remove Other Private Data"), reset the password, and then reconnected Sync with the new password.
It worked! I did not lose any stored passwords in the process.

Type about:preferences#security<enter> in the address bar. Look under Logins,
Note: For Firefox 56+ its; about:preferences#privacy Look under Forms & Passwords +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Turn on Remember Logins. To check the passwords you have listed, press Saved Logins.
Is the password listed here?
Resetting the sync password, or changing its e-mail, will remove all data from the servers.
This is a security feature. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ive-lost-my-firefox-sync-account-information

Hi FredMcD,
Thanks for responding.
No, the Firefox Account password is not listed under the saved logins.
