Unable to uninstall Thunderbird even in safe mode

more options

I want to uninstall Thunderbird because I seem to have attracted some Trojans which I can't seem to shift using the usual tools, (Malware Bytes, Bulldog Internet Security, Sophos). The trojans seem to exist in the profile files so I thought the best way was to uninstall Thunderbird. I have Windows 10, fully patched. When I try and uninstall through settings, after clicking the uninstall button it still sits there and nothing happens. I have also booted into safe mode and tried uninstalling again, with the same result that it just sits there. On rebooting my machine Thunderbird is still there and working normally. I have as a precaution removed all the e-mail addresses from the Thunderbird accounts but I really would like to completely uninstall the program to be safe.

Any ideas how I can get get a proper uninstall.

I'm not sure why you thing uninstalling Thunderbird program would remove it's data. In fact, uninstalling THunderbird does not remove the profile. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles
