I can't open the folders within my bookmarks.

more options

I utilize folders within my bookmarks. When I click on "Bookmarks" (top toolbar-File, Edit, View, History, etc) scroll over a folder, nothing happens. I am unable to open bookmarks within a folder, unless I click on "Show all Bookmarks" and find the folder I want. The number of URLs within any given folder range from 3-30. I do not have an issue with adding, saving or changing a bookmark.

Hi s77f, Please take not of how to recover your profile after making any changes while troubleshooting this issue.

If you import the bookmarks to a new profile, does this happen as well? Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks and Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles

Or, to make sure it is not hardware acceleration, some preferences or addons: Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

I tried both creating a new profile and starting in Firefox Safe Mode and I am still unable to open the folders in my bookmarks. However, in terminal when using Terminal to start the profile manager I received this message below my command:

      1. !!! [Child][DispatchAsyncMessage] Error: (msgtype=0xAA0001,name=PTexture::Msg___delete__) Route error: message sent to unknown actor ID

Thank you for your help, I am just still having trouble...
