Sharepoint no longer supported to allow editing with Microsoft Office

more options

Background: I have Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac. The problem I'm experiencing seems to stem from the most recent Firefox update as I was able to edit files before.

The problem: When connecting to a Sharepoint Intranet site, I was previously able to click a file (e.g. Excel Spreadsheet) and open it in Excel...launched from Firefox. I would then have an "edit" option but now I no longer have that option. I've tested this and can still perform the task in Safari without any problems. I've scoured the Sharepoint boards to no avail. This appears to be isolated to Firefox and, as mentioned, only a recent problem.

I've reset Firefox, deleted my preferences, etc. trying to fix the problem. I experience the same issue whether I'm on my desktop Mac or Macbook. Any help?

To which location (folder on the hard drive) is Firefox saving this file before passing it to Excel?

Do you have write permission for this folder?

It places a copy into my "Downloads" folder and, yes, I have write permission for this folder. I've checked this, as well since you presented the idea, on both my laptop and desktop...both are acting the same. I don't recall, when it worked previously, a copy being saved on my computer. It appeared to understand it was opening a document (e.g. checking it out for editing) in Sharepoint and, therefore, didn't bother copying a permanent file.

Other ideas? Again, this works fine with Safari. I just don't care to use Safari and really enjoy my Firefox!
