Well thank you for posting these links, https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox but this is not helping me, I been there before posting this question. OK> new hard drive installed after the old one wouldn't boot up anymore. Was running windows XP, now I'm running windows 7. The old hard drive is still connected in my computer, therefor I assumed that all the files where still there, and they are. I found the fire fox file, so where are the bookmarks? somebody told me that they are in profile, the file is called places.sqlite, great, unfortunately I do not see that file, but they have to be somewhere, well that is what I assume. In short, take me by my hand and walk me true it, or just tell me I'm out of luck and they are gone, so I can start crying and start all over :O(

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab, and under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders"
To see all file extensions uncheck the box "Hide extensions for known file types"

  • XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
  • Vista/Windows 7: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\
